Ensemble is looking for Composer

Aires Tropicales Quintet was founded in 2021 in the Netherlands. Our repertoire combines classical and contemporary music with the captivating rhythms of Cuban, Latin American, and jazz traditions. Playing music by heart helps us create a stronger connection with ourselves and the audience, allowing us to convey ideas and emotions in an authentic and unique way. Versatility is one of our passions; we enjoy switching instruments, singing, dancing, and incorporating body percussion in our performances. Our mission is to share our Cuban music with the audience while enriching the standard chamber music repertoire. We want to take the next step in our career by producing our own CD featuring original music and arrangements written exclusively for our ensemble. It will be titled: Roots: The sound of Cuba We would love to collaborate with a composer who can help us bring this dream to life with five original compositions and arrangements tailored to our ensemble. On this CD, we aim to reflect who we are as musicians, showcasing all we have learned and how we’ve grown since the start of our professional careers. The CD will explore Cuba's musical history, shaped by its journey through Spanish colonization, African slavery, and American influence. The pieces should reflect the blend of Spanish, African, and North American influences that have shaped Cuban music. It is the perfect opportunity to expose part of our culture in the country that have welcome us for the latest years, The Netherlands.
